DUPR ratings
Our club is officially partnered with DUPR
DUPR stands for Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating and was developed in 2021. DUPR aims to be the most accurate, global rating system in pickleball.
Perth Pickleball Club will use the DUPR rating system to help players take part in the most appropriate sessions.
Registered members will also be able to use their DUPR rating when entering inter-club matches, tournaments and festivals where specific ability categories have been designated.
All players, regardless of age, gender, location or skill are rated on the same scale between 2.000-8.000 based on their match results.

How does this work alongside the conventional Pickleball Ratings?

Players who have conventional ratings ranging from 2.5 to 5.0, will find their DUPR rating fits within that scale, while at the higher end of the range, the professional ratings are expanded above 5.000 up to 8.000. For example, Ben Johns, the current men's World No. 1 player, is rated 7.292 and Anna Leigh Waters, the ladies' World No. 1 is rated 6.314).

How does it calculate a rating?

DUPR is an algorithm that will assess a player’s last eligible 30 singles or 60 doubles matches.
The algorithm considers three factors:

Points Won: How many points did you win?

Victory: Did you win or lose?

Type of Result: Was this a self-posted recreational play score, a league match, an unsanctioned tournament or a sanctioned tournament result?

Players get a rating as soon as they have their first results recorded, but it takes a few games played with a variety of players to get an accurate rating that reflects your true ability (perhaps up to 10 matches) and it helps the algorithm to establish your rating if you are playing with someone who already has an established rating.

How do I get a rating?
​
DUPR is free and anyone can get rated. One match result is all it takes to acquire a DUPR rating.
The club will enter scores for matches played in eligible competitive sessions, but individuals can also enter their results for their own recreational sessions - just remember, all players in the game being recorded must have a DUPR account for the scores to count towards a rating.
